Gauntlet PC

Green Man Gaming has the latest Gauntlet game for Steam PC available for $4 with the coupon below. It turns out there are other Warner Brother PC games also available for $4 with the code!

The other games are available here. They include the Batman Arkham series, Mortal Kombat, Lego, and others!

This is an excellent version of Gauntlet. It is true to the 4 player arcade madness many of us grew up with. I love co-op games and got a chance to play this last month with three other people at @sn0zc0r3 ‘s house. We had a blast!

The coupon code is: 20PERC-WTHGMG-201627

My road to the Oculus began a late stormy night, a strange man knocked on my door, he said “Ay mang, you wanna buy some snicker doodles” and I was all like ” Yes sir, I would love some snicker doodles.” so I bought some snicker doodles, but anyways. I went back to my super epic command center, which is where I do my super awesome reading ( All The Adverts! all up in ya! ) When Oculus twittered tweeted “Bruh, we started from the bottom and now we will be here in 2 days.” so I made sure to get on that. So after doing the time glitch like in Animal Crossing the Oculus was finally upon me! 3,2,1 …… Wait what! The site won’t load, $600! $680 with tax and shipping! What is all this nonsense! It was a  raging shit storm of angry rakins t bagging confused Sony fans at a no online service contest.

I started to question my self and also questioning if I really wanted the Oculus after all, two different subjects I know, but why not throw it in anyways, but that is besides the point. The point is as much as the future of gaming is VR, as much as I have wanted this gaming experience in my life since Disney’s Blank check and The First Kid, not to be forgotten the marvelous show VR Troopers. Did I really want it that much? Did I want it enough that I would drop $700 in a seconds notice, even though the library of games announced are trash and that there are rumors of the Vive being 10x more powerful? Well, of course, duh. But then again all it really was, was a pre order, no reason in beating myself up over the decision, I have a month and a half to cancel if I decide to change my mind. But I promise you this, I will be keeping my eyes peeled throughout the next few weeks and making my decision with which VR headset I decide to go with, because no matter what, VR gaming will be in my future, whether it’s the Vive or Oculus. Though the time is upon us to head to the other side, Hello….. can you here me…. I’m in California dreaming of what VR can finally be…

There is still time to decide and see, do you want the hype of the future to fall flat with the decision you make or do you watch carefully and make sure it’s everything you dreamt of it being. Because the last thing you want is to power a fail machine and turn a company into an un-reliable hardware distributor that everyone throws there money at, at the launch of every new device, that is just an updated broken piece of garbage as the last version they put out. Wow, where is that anger coming from? Oh it’s nothing, it’s not like the majority of us haven’t been screwed over time and time again by Microsoft, RRod Xbox 360, Broken sound in the headset Jack problem in there Surface tablets and not to mention there very very sorry excuse of an app store that has nothing in it. How can you even call it a tablet when you can’t even support Pandora or Spotify, along with a number of many other basic services we get from our android/ios counterparts. Yes, yes, I know off topic, but is it really? We are venturing into a company, a brand new company, that is just now starting there app service, that has a dashboard in the rift or that will be available for it, that has no support and even if there is, we have no clue whether they will actually support it. Although my mind is still set as of now in getting the Oculus, After setting up my mothers Surface tablet and being a early Xbox 360 adapter, I see and know of the roads that the Oculus can lead. There are many what if cons that come along with it, but what about the what ifs, from the pro side?

Well lets talk about the pros then my friend. It’s owned by Facebook, it has been in development for years so there is no way it can be lacking that much power compared to the Vive, even though it wont have the apps or same Steam software compared to HTC’s product, it is looking into venturing in the cinematic universe as well, so why do all these things make it superior compared to the Vive? Because the Oculus has more then just video games in mind, it has the same dream and idealism that Facebook and Twitter had when they where both let loose upon us. They are going beyond the blue print of Virtual Gaming and trying to bring us into the world of Virtual Reality. What does that mean you may ask? Well as of now, Twitch is already working on becoming VR/Oculus compatible, Facebook will most likely become VR compatible and I have no doubt in my mind, that many are following suit and I honestly hope they do. Because Virtual Reality should go far beyond gaming. Because whether you disagree or not, it’s not really a Virtual Reality if it’s over at Game Over.

We can go beyond gaming, we can take Virtual Reality to new heights, to a marvelous new form of education and a new way of interaction and showing affection. Soldiers being able to physically interact with there children, Teachers being able to reach out to children all across the world and be there in person through virtual reality, though for now the Oculus is too expensive to do such things, it will become accessible to all at one point, but I agree it can’t come soon enough.

Reality is upon us my friends, Embrace it.

Exaggerated, over-hyped, these are words that come to mind when I think of the whole Hatred fiasco that was occurring while on its road to launch. It was one of the biggest controversy’s occurring in gaming at its time, with everyone either trying to get rid of the game for good or have it added back onto Steam, after it was pulled off the store by the head honcho’s at Steamworks themselves. In the end we ended up hearing from both sides, “it’s our human right to have freedom of expression and speech and play this game” etc. etc. “This game is a hate crime and if you play it, it should be considered as one” etc. etc. After all was said and done, it was released, people played it and like every other game out there, it was forgotten. Now we’re here or should I say, still here, because the world didn’t turn into THE PURGE, will it did, but we have Black Friday to blame for that or ourselves, you’re free to choose.

The Hatred:
So how was the game and was it all it was cracked up to be? No it really wasn’t, it had practically the same dialogue or one that was really similar to it at the start and end of each and every level I had played, with the same gimmicky one liners looping throughout the campaign. Everyone exaggerated it, over-hyped it, made it into a monster before they even got there hands on it. I understand why everyone felt the way they felt, but in the end, we have played this game, it was just masked with controversy and controversial dialogue that deliberately hinted and pointed at what you where doing and made it into a whole quest and objective. They even added executions that made it seem a lot worst then it really was. This game is GTA 2 and GTA 3 and about every GTA game after it, with far less offensive executions then Gears of War and Mortal Kombat. In matter of fact, there’s a game that a few have bought this year, that has basically the same premise. The only difference is that it’s made to look silly and is allowed to be played on Twitch Tv, what’s the game you ask? It’s Party Hard by Tiny Build games. You play as a serial killer, you go to these random parties and straight up slaughter everyone and dump the bodies, so the other party attendees don’t discover them, so you can continue killing everyone at the party. That’s basically it.

I would say though, Rumors basically killed and made Hatred. Killed as in, it was basically banned everywhere, including Twitch and the controversy behind it made it be reviewed a lot more harshly than other games, but then again I wouldn’t really disagree with many of the negative reviews out there. It was really repetitive, once you where done with the tutorial, you where basically stuck doing the same thing over and over again, with the tutorial weapons being almost half of the arsenal you will end up using. The dialogue started to be a pain to listen to after a while, not because it was offensive, because it wasn’t, I don’t even think I heard anything really slanderous, or anything really offensive at all throughout the time I had hands on with it. Most of it felt cheesy to be honest. After a bit though, the black and white visuals and clever like gimmicks started to wear off fast, to the point you where basically left with an empty GTA game, a GTA game that was missing it’s charm. I know this is hard for some to take in though, but this could of actually been an enjoyable game and one worth playing. So far this team has shown us that they have the skills to make a great looking game with marvelous physics to roam around in, but from what I’ve seen are lacking in every other department.

Hope In All This Darkness:
There was some good out of this if you see it the way I do and that is, that the controversy most likely made the developers enough money, that they could actually work on a game they are really really passionate about. Since Hatred felt like an engine for a game they couldn’t have made with the expenses they had at hand. And honestly, I hope they do make another game and stray away from needing controversy to sell it and use the game to speak for itself. When I played this game on there engine, all I could see is how marvelous an open top down world with color and a detective such as Dick Tracy roaming around it would of been, especially when riding around town in a classical cartoony like car, chasing down mobsters. They have a lot of amazing in there hands, I just hope they see what they have in front of them and actually wow us positively next time or negatively, just make the game live up to the expectations, make it something worth playing.

Although everything so far seems negative, I do love this game. The environments are amazingly detailed and if it weren’t a game where you were in wanted level mode throughout the whole experience, while playing in black and white setting, maybe just maybe, you could take in the true beauty a lot more. The roads, basketball courts, the houses and everything inside them, the amount of content that each and every building is filled with is Incredible. It’s like they spent there blood, sweat and tears on the world of Hatred, so much so that they forgot to make an actual game, so they just made you do the same thing over and over again throughout the whole campaign to try to make up for it. Which didn’t work, I’m going to say it again, I believe they have a template in there hands that can lead them to bigger and better things and this was just a test project for them. Well I at least hope it was, In a few years, time will tell.

The Bad
-repetitive gameplay
-repetitive dialogue
-lacking in weapons
-once you finish the tutorial, you are basically set to do the same thing over and over again
-it felt repetitive from the start (games are repetitive, that’s a fact, but the amazing ones make the repetitive really hard to notice when you are playing them, to the point that you have forgotten that you have been doing the same repetitive thing for hours, sometimes even days.)
-Open World are all separated into levels, would of been nice for it all to have been one huge free roam map.
-black and white
AI- Can be really really dumb sometimes
Driving- It’s pretty wonky, either that or I’m a bad driver
-Lacking in vehicle variety
-The whole thing felt like an empty shell with an actual game ready to be added to it.

The Good
The physics- May be hard to see during your destructive play through, but all the details of every item being destroyed with the impact of the bullets and explosives that interact with them is amazing.

The Environment – being able to walk into every house is something we have wanted to see in GTA in like forever, this little team had done this, the people ran out of the houses and knew they where in them, you could go up stairs, kick down doors, shoot and break windows. There where parks, basketball courts, rail roads, working trains (that you couldn’t operate or enter), police stations you could roam around in, with jails with actual prisoners in them. parties and people doing everyday things in there homes before you disrupted them. It was pretty fantastic seeing this in a game for once, all in the 1st level.

Vehicles – yes this little game has drive-able vehicles you can ride around town.

– The developers have the skills to make a masterpiece that we all can one day cherish in our massive library of games

-The details they put into each level is balls to the wall amazing

-mini free roam, open world levels

AI-love the fact that the police drive to where you are and follow you into houses and up the stairs, the people party in the house, run out etc. etc.

-Driving your car through buildings

After a horrific tragedy occurs to the townspeople of Dropsyville, it has left everyone with a sinking feeling of depression and with no person to blame other than the sole survivor himself. Dropsy. A clown with the biggest heart and the worlds most marvelous smile, seeks out to piece everyone’s shattered little hearts back together. Though he might be the stuff of nightmares on the outside, his love and compassion is lit like a soulful aura coming down from the sky throughout the game, even leading to moments where the feel is too much to bare. It’s amazing what Devolver Digital has been doing in gaming industry the last few years and Dropsy is proof of that. I love this game and what it represents, it’s also good to see something that is light hearted and doesn’t go full Gotham on you from start to finish. This is a Hugventure for the ages and one everyone should play at least once, because it feels good to do good every now and then. Such a beautifully wonderful game, I just can’t say it enough.

What I like about the game:
The art, the simplicity of a point and click adventure without the need to pull your hair from ridiculously placed puzzles that no normal human can solve, The love, the characters, the hug button, the feel good scenes,  simple script that doesn’t try to shove try hard clever dialogue down your throat through out the whole experience, the voice fx, wall of hugs, fast travel, collectible cassettes, one giant open world, Dropsy.

What I don’t like:
There could of been more to the game then being an errand boy, Felt extremely too easy to the point that I felt like I was just clicking the right mouse button to get to the next slideshow.

Final thoughts:
Brings a few features from other genres to the point and click adventure market, with it’s own fast travel system, that keeps traveling the open world a far from dreading experience. It’s unique and wonderful, and leaves you wanting experiences more games like it. It’s An open world, point and click adventure, done right. 5 heavy Dropsy breaths out of 5

Hello Lads and Gals and Murlock pals, stay close, read quick and buy it, it’s that time of the year where your wallets start crying, from all the abuse you end up putting it through during the Steam holiday sales every year, but today while scrolling around it seemed like a few video game kiosks have started a bit early with the sails, so grab a few trick or treat bags or even a pale, because these prices are sure to go off the rails.

What I would Like To Work On

After all the very important deeds are done and you have your baby all set up and running, what do you do next? you personalize it, well I did and do plan to continue. I wanted the colors to flow from the outside to the inside of my PC case and even when all was said and done, I wanted my OS and desktop to show up to the field and play, so it could be a part of the team too. Yeah, there might be more that I can do to the inside of my case to make it blown out crazy, but I am not looking to throw down $10 on each individual cable by Bitfenix, just yet, especially since for a few cents you can get an average black looking Sata cable. Though the beautifully threaded wires would make the whole thing pop, but sometimes its just not worth the price of admission. Well not at the moment at least.

Watercooling? Don’t need it, I was thinking of swapping out the Noctua fans for ones with LEDs though, but Noctuas fans are some of the most top tier fans you can have on your CPU radiator and inside your PC, so you would be a fool to even think of getting rid of those, maybe paint them, now that seems like an excellent idea, but for now, taking the whole rig apart doesn’t seem like a thing I want to do. Maybe even paint the radiator too? I don’t even know how that would work or even where to start. But in the end, I would skip on the whole watercooling aspect of personalizing my rig, especially since it’s a hobby within itself and a expensive one at that. Even then, I have one of the best CPU coolers out, so I am fine with what I have.

New Drives are on the top of my list, currently I am working with some old hardware and the old HDD’s are chunky slabs of metal that require it to have the brackets still installed in my pc, but I do plan on changing the OS to an SSD and the programs onto either a new hard-drive or bolted to the bottom of the case. A new 2TB HDD external or internal for all my media needs (pics, videos, cam footage etc. etc.) By doing this I can remove that ugly bracket and create more breathing room in my case and let it all look a lot more cleaner with the room I would now have to move cables around, so I could present them through a sexy window. P.S. cleaning up your cables keeps your PC cool, with perfected air flow.

Painting my hardware is something I keep in mind especially when it comes to my GPU, many hard-drives have ways for the protective shell design on top of it to be removed, but is a tricky process, because if you tear any of the ribbons or pieces attached inside, you can permanently break you graphics card. It seems like a great activity to lose time too, but I am still trying to decide whether to do it or not, it’s not really demanding or require a lot of skill, but requires me to buy the paint, which is something I don’t have right now and I am still looking for the right color for the project.  I was also thinking of instead coloring the whole thing, that I would just color the silver trim, which seems like it would be a lot cooler than the whole thing being orange, still trying to decide the format of how to paint it, maybe even a design or two, hmmmm, thinking of what to cut into a stencil.

Accessories are the way to go if you can’t afford all the little expensive threaded cables or LED modifications within the case, like how I bought this really cool keyboard on sale on newegg and it had an orange Starcraft Two theme with a hint of blue too it that really kicked my set up into gear. I am still looking to buy this mouse I found with glowing orange LEDs, but need to spare some change for it, but it’s going to look so rad when I finally get my hands on it.

Mousepad? I usually just use any hard surface I can find, like the table or the floor, where ever I happen to be using my pc at the moment.

Splash Screen? There is a chance that you most likely do not know what this is, but at the start of your pc’s boot, an image swiftly appears, that you will miss if you even blink, but I just wanted to take my customization to that extent and created my own with the beautiful Audrey Hepburn. It feels like she is welcoming me to my PC every time I boot The Misfit, now if only I could tweak the timing, now that would be great.

I forgot what software I used to customize my splash screen, but I am pretty sure it was from the Gigabytes utilities, which is also great, since not only is the Gigabyte mobo It came with orange and  black, but the utilities color scheme matched making everything sync perfectly.

Windows 10 App page with my wallpaper just chilling in the back.

Taking it a bit further I decided to make my Youtube, Google Chrome and Windows 10 match the color scheme along with my dashboard wallpaper and website as well.

It’s not really important to the aspect of pc building but it is a fun one, especially when it comes to the designs, it’s just another chance to put a little more of you into your project. And heck, why not?

YouTube Header

Put some love into it, after all you put all that cash and work in, might as well just go all out.

my web browsers skin

They are great and sometimes scare people off, because they might assume that it takes some serious hardware and cutting or soldering of important parts, but fret not, there are simple ones out their that we can all do and here are a few I plan to do myself.

One of the things I would love to do in the future is make one of these Mirror windows for my Misfit, but a cheaper version of it all, with just the window and magnet strips that hold the window panel onto the case. It’s very beautiful and I will try to go for the legit method and use the authentic parts that where use for the original mod, but it will all come down to the price everything costs. I would also leave the front panel off, just to save a bit and also I enjoy the look of my grilled mesh front, that I also already paid money for. I would also love to equip it with some LEDs and a Giant LED fan for the mesh that would illuminate it from inside out.

Painting, yes my friends! painting. Don’t be scurred, “but I might paint something and realize I despise the look of it or paint on something I didn’t mean too” , well look at what I have hear, friend. A special paint that is made out of plastic and hardens over your hardware. The paint is called Plasti Dip, it is easily removable, “how removable? you ask, well you can tear it  straight off with any sharp object, yes, even your fingernails, you can also improvise and paint on other things and get creative.

Now with plasti dip in the picture you can have some real fun. By having this new tool in your arsenal you will be able to do all sorts of things, even though I haven’t used the product yet to confirm all my speculations, I am pretty sure they will be down right close to what I have in mind.

I want to make myself an emblem and I want to do it cheap. And If I am right the paint will harden over the a piece or two of cardboard depending if I stack em or not, for strength. After doing all that I want to stick it on the front of the grill to make it look awesome, and maybe have it illuminate LED’s from the fan I plan to buy for the mesh front. Maybe you have more of a creativeness spirit than I do? You can go full out with the cosplay material they call Worbla and make fins and crazy exterior modifications for your pc, you imagine it, you can do it. Maybe you don’t even need Worbla, but can use a sturdy cardboard instead?

Well, that’s about all I can come up with for the time being as of now, but I am sure the fight to make this baby as personal as possible is far from over and I am more than pretty sure, that there will be more mods out their to inspire me in the future to come, but for now these seem to be about it, so take it easy, You ain’t gotta go home, but you gotta get the hell up out of here.
